| La versione per pianoforte di questa sonata è stata trascritta dalla partitura per arpeggione e pianoforte. Unica composizione sostanziale esistente oggi per l’arpeggione (che era essenzialmente una chitarra ad arco). La sonata fu composta nel novembre 1824, circa un mese dopo il ritorno di Schubert a Vienna dal suo secondo soggiorno a Zseliz. È stato adattato ad altri strumenti a corda, in particolare al violoncello. Il pezzo fu probabilmente commissionato dall’amico di Schubert Vincenz Schuster, virtuoso dell’arpeggione, strumento inventato solo l’anno precedente. Quando la sonata fu pubblicata postuma nel 1871, l’entusiasmo per la novità dell’arpeggione era ormai svanito da tempo, insieme allo strumento stesso. | The piano version of this sonata was transcribed from the score for arpeggione and piano. The only substantial composition existing today for the arpeggione (which was essentially a bowed guitar). The sonata was composed in November 1824, about a month after Schubert’s return to Vienna from his second stay in Zseliz. It has been adapted to other stringed instruments, especially the cello. The piece was probably commissioned by Schubert’s friend Vincenz Schuster, a virtuoso of the arpeggione, an instrument invented only the previous year. By the time the sonata was published posthumously in 1871, the enthusiasm for the novelty of the arpeggione had long since faded, along with the instrument itself. |
