Pergolesi Flute Concerto Score
| The Concerto in G major for flute, 2 violins and continuo was composed by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. We know the source of this concert in a copy of the manuscript dated 1780, but we do not know exactly when it was composed. According to many scholars, it was composed long before the aforementioned date reported on the copy of the manuscript. The peculiarity of this concert is the absence of the viola. In practice the solo flute plays with the first and second violins and the continuous bass. We had fun (I apologize for the term) in the sense that it was pleasant to develop the harpsichord part from the continuo, and which we then transferred in some parts into the version for flute and harpsichord or piano included in this article. | Il Concerto in sol maggiore per flauto, 2 violini e continuo è stato composto da Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Conosciamo la fonte di questo concerto in una copia del manoscritto datata 1780, ma non sappiamo esattamente quando fu composto. Secondo molti studiosi esso sarebbe stato composto molto prima della suddetta data riportata sulla copia del manoscritto. La particolarità di questo concerto è l’assenza della viola. In pratica il flauto solista suona con il primo e il secondo violino e il basso continuo. Ci siamo divertiti (mi scuso per il termine) nel senso che è stato piacevole sviluppare la parte del clavicembalo dal continuo, e che abbiamo poi trasferito in alcune parti nella versione per flauto e clavicembalo o pianoforte contenuta in questo articolo. |
