Handel Oboe Sonata Score HWV366
| Handel Oboe Sonata The Sonata No.8 in C minor HWV 366, is part of a series of sonatas for multiple instruments which was first published in London in 1732 by the publisher John Walsh as Op.1, it is thought that they were composed by Handel after 1714 or 1716, it is not known exactly when they were written. In practice these are sonatas for various instruments such as the oboe, the transverse and recorder flute, violin and basso continuo. The part for the harpsichord was taken from the figured bass. A more recent reprint, between 1858 and 1902, was published by the publisher and music critic Karl Franz Friedrich Chrysander, where he included the sonatas published by Walsh and others attributed to Handel. The problem at that time was that with these publications the instrument to address the sonatas was approximate, also because some of these sonatas in both the first and second editions, Handel’s authorship was only attributed and therefore uncertain. Then over time things settled down with the various more recent editions. We must also say that we have published several Sonatas by Handel both for oboe, for violin and two violins and for recorder, and which we will certainly present with related articles and scores for download. | Sonata per Oboe di Händel La Sonata No.8 in Do minore HWV 366, fa parte di una serie di sonate per più strumenti che fu pubblicata per la prima volta a Londra nel 1732 dall’editore John Walsh come Op.1, si pensa che siano state composte da Handel dopo il 1714 o 1716, non si sa esattamente quando furono scritte. In pratica si tratta di sonate per vari strumenti come l’oboe, il flauto traverso e dolce, il violino e il basso continuo. La parte per il clavicembalo è stata presa dal basso continuo. Una ristampa più recente, tra il 1858 e il 1902, fu pubblicata dall’editore e critico musicale Karl Franz Friedrich Chrysander, dove incluse le sonate pubblicate da Walsh e altre attribuite a Händel. Il problema a quel tempo era che con queste pubblicazioni lo strumento per affrontare le sonate era approssimativo, anche perché per alcune di queste sonate sia nella prima che nella seconda edizione la paternità di Handel era solo attribuita e quindi incerta. Poi col tempo le cose si sono sistemate con le varie edizioni più recenti.
