The 12 Sonatas for harpsichord or piano by Giovanni Benedetto Platti were reconstructed and elaborated in 2019 by Santino Cara, taking inspiration from the manuscripts of 1722 and 1728 copied by Peter August around 1738 and preserved at the State Library of Berlin. The first six sonatas of Op.1 were dedicated by Platti to “Maria Josepha Theresia von Oettingen” with the title of “6 Sonates pour le Clavessin sur le goût italien – Six sonatas for harpsichord on Italian taste”. Both the sonatas of Op.1 and the other 6 of Op.4 were published for the first time in 1742.
